Karlos Cárcamo

My work reflects my interests in Art History, Modernist Abstraction, and Urban Culture. Using common everyday materials such as vinyl records, house paint, found plywood, spray paint, graffiti remover, and collage. I make paintings and sculptures that play on notions of value through high/low cultural references. Embedding a sense of narrative through the formal process and materiality of each work. It reflects my own personal experiences, history, and identity, while also engaging in a formal vocabulary that challenges minimal abstractions history of purity and self referentiality.
