Karlos Cárcamo

My work reflects my interests in Art History, Modernist Abstraction, and Urban Culture. Using common everyday materials such as vinyl records, house paint, found plywood, spray paint, and collage. I make artworks that play on notions of value through high/low cultural references. Embedding a sense of narrative through the process and the materiality each work. Touching on my own personal experiences and identity while also engaging in a formal vocabulary that comments on abstractions legacy of artistic purity and self referentiality.
